The tops and bottoms of most food storage containers are made of different materials. Both halves of these containers are #5 plastic, so they could be easily recycled together. This means that the lid of these square containers may be a little rigid at first, but will loosen up after a few uses.
Preserve Plastic™ is BPA and phthalate-free. Plastics are sourced from a network of trusted providers and test every batch that are reprocessed into Preserve products. Preserve products are made exclusively with #5 recycled plastics, which do not require BPA or phthalates. BPA is typically found in #3 plastics and polycarbonates. Polycarbonates are part of the miscellaneous category of plastics, labelled #7.
